Delta Design Introduces the MATRiX High Speed Test Handler at Semicon West
Tuesday, July 15, 2008
POWAY, California, July 14, 2008 - Cohu, Inc. (NASDAQ: COHU) announced today that its Delta Design subsidiary, the world's leading supplier of semiconductor logic pick and place test handlers, has launched its next generation high speed test handler, the MATRiX."We were challenged by our customers to design a system that could handle tomorrow's small, fine pitch packages while increasing equipment utilization and test throughput," said Luis Muller, Delta Design Director of Engineering. "The MATRiX is our answer as it brings together 30 years of experience in thermal and pick and place technology into a flexible and economical next generation handler."
The MATRiX increases productivity over previous generation tri-temperature handlers in several dimensions of performance: up to three times higher throughput, four times higher parallelism, and active thermal control per test site. The system also provides unprecedented flexibility with field upgradeable options including a chamber-less tri-temperature test site, vision alignment, and auto contactor cleaning.
The MATRiX has an adjustable test site configuration that enables customers to reuse existing load-boards, including boards made for gravity handlers. With its flexible configuration MATRiX is well suited for a wide range of test applications including analog ICs with short test times and high throughput, automotive devices requiring high thermal accuracy, small pitch wireless-communication products, high parallel microcontroller testing, and many other device market segments with their unique requirements.
